本集團創辦人林光教授於2011年1月6日接受教育部長吳清基頒發至高榮譽的〝教育文化專業獎章〞

On Jan. 6, 2011, Dr. Kuang Lin, the founder of Pacific Star Group ,  received the highest honor bestowed by the Minister of Education Taiwan, R.O.C for his lifetime contribution to Taiwan education.

國立海洋大學前副校長林光教授（見圖左）於上周六日在教育部接受部長吳清基（見圖右）頒發最高榮譽的〝教育文化專業獎章〞及獎狀，以獎勵他對國家教育的卓越貢獻；林光在頒獎致詞中，僅提到：〝任重道遠〞四字，以表示他將繼續為我國航運及教育而努力。 林光任教海大三十餘年，曾任系所主任、院長，及該校副校長，期間自持清廉並無私的對該校貢獻良多；除論文及專著外，對學生之培育提拔不遺餘力，在海運界產官學許多卓越優秀的專業航運管理的人才，很多都是在他任教期間培育的學生，可說是桃李滿天下。 林光在兩岸海運交流及對政府海運政策推動貢獻相當卓越，以致於在兩岸海事教育界聲望非常高，大陸各航運團來訪更皆指名要拜訪他。其創辦的沛華海運集團知名全球，幾十年來在營運績效一直是獨占鰲頭。 幾十年來不斷的捐助國內外大專院校獎學金來提攜後進、主辦十校聯盟航運研討會及兩岸三地學術交流，在退休後更捐贈海大航管系館乙棟，去年並再捐助馬偕醫學院新建大樓以及協助吳艷霞女士自美國芝加哥運回數公噸幼兒英文圖書，捐贈基隆文化中心一千五百餘冊。他的無私的奉獻深獲學界及業界的景仰。

On Jan. 6, 2011, Dr. Kuang Lin received the highest honor bestowed by the Minister of Education Taiwan, R.O.C. in appreciation of his contribution to national education for the past thirty years and for his various donations to many different school and students as well as his professional academic teaching in the shipping business with various papers and text books publications. Dr. Lin is the first to be awarded this honor from his university – National Taiwan Ocean University where he went for his under graduate school and came back from USA for his teaching career.
